What a gem this place is! The Spicy Yellowtail , Citrus Summer Roll, and Ora King Salmon with Mango rolls were perfect!! Great bar area, quiet dinner music in the background, and the service was very laid back but attentive. I'm so glad I found SushiCo.

So good! I've had take out from there before, which is OK. We went in for an early dinner on Friday night, and we had amazing dishes! The Boomer Roll is AMAZING. It's tempura mushrooms, and it is soooo good. We also had two other house special makis that were also very good. (I forget which ones, but both were raw). My 5 year old loved her simple salmon roll. The edamame portion was huge and good, but I like mine with a bit more salt. We will definitely be back!

Food, ambiance, service and drinks all on point. Specifically the spicy edamame and special rolls. Owner was a super nice guy - clearly working hard but took the time to shake our hands and chat for a bit. Recommended highly

Wow - what a find! Definitely stop by if you're in the area and wanting sushi. I was so impressed from start to finish. First: the FOOD! Everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. No regrets on any order. I went with two other people and we ordered the following: - edamame - salty, plump, and perfectly steamed - spicy avocado shrimp salad - like nothing i've ever had! the flavors were so incredible! the best way i can describe it is like a tennis ball size amount of a shrimp-slaw surrounded by thinly sliced avocado. beautiful mix of creamy and acidic flavors - spicy tuna roll - the added touch of green onions was yummy - tempura shrimp roll - love that crispy texture - sweet potato roll - much more substantial than a typical version of this roll - king roll - incredible combo with the salmon on top and a mix of mango and veggies inside the rice - def my personal favorite of our selection - another tuna special roll i cannot recall the name of Secondly, the ambiance. Simply gorgeous! The restaurant has high ceilings, sexy bar seating around a U-shaped bar in the center of the restaurant, and cozy booths around the perimeter. Lots of warm gold tones and natural wood. Tasteful and classy! Thirdly, and so importantly: the service. This was especially important because one of the people who joined me is a close friend with a very severe tree nut allergy. Sushi is often a safe bet for her in terms of her allergy, but I made sure to call and ask about it when I made my reservation. Chef Alex happened to take my call and immediately addressed my concerns, assuring me that the kitchen can guarantee no cross contamination and is very careful about allergens. He even mentioned how he has two people close to him who have serious allergies as well, so it's a topic close to his heart. He added a note to our reservation and said he would personally visit our table. Fast forward to our visit, and he did personally stop by to reiterate the kitchen policies to reassure my friend. Even aside from his visit, his wife (I regretfully cannot remember her name) was so accommodating while serving us our meal. As Sushico does not have dessert, she very thoughtfully recommended nearby dessert places with allergy considerations in mind. My only request to Sushico: please add dessert!!! To Yelpers: this place is incredible!

Excellent all around. Tuna tacos were delicious and unique. Omakase was a great way to try what the chef is excited about - would trust this time and time again. Short but solid drink list. Service was also great. Look forward to coming back soon.

Where do I begin... I guess at the fact that I walked in as a non-sushi person and left as a super fan! I haven't ever really been a big seafood lover, for no other reason than having been a picky child who never grew out of it :) While I love a good veggie based roll, I knew I had been missing out. I have heard so many rave reviews about SUSHICO, I was willing to step very far outside of my comfort zone and see what the buzz was about. Chef Alex went above and beyond to make my experience exceptional, and comfortable. He spent time at our table (on a busy Saturday night), talking about the flavors I like, where and how the ingredients his restaurant uses are sourced and the pride he takes in ensuring only the best in quality. I was blown away by the flavors, textures and overall deliciousness of everything we had. My husband, who is also an avid sushi fan, proclaimed it was the best he ever had and we could never go anywhere else! Chef Alex came back to check on us many times throughout the evening and couldn't have been a more gracious host. We look forward to many more visits in the (near) future and highly recommend SUSHICO to all!

After some Yelp sleuthing for dinner in Newton, we settled on Sushico. The restaurant has a modern and elegant ambiance and friendly service. We got to try a variety of their dishes and I had some really tasty items. Must get - Yellowtail jalapeno - super fresh and tender melt-in-your-mouth fish, crunchy jalapeno, tasty sauce. Definitely one of my favorite crudos I've had in the past year. - Unnamed roll - I can't figure out what this roll was called (they might not sell it anymore), but it had tuna, chili crunch, and microgreens on top. It was my favorite roll that we tried! Flavors, textures, and fish were all on point. Good - Tuna with shiso - very tender tuna, fragrant shiso - Salmon avocado roll - fresh and tasty - King roll - very interesting combination of ingredients (salmon, avocado, mango, veggies) Meh - Sushi tacos - I was really looking forward to these after seeing them in reviews, but I wasn't a fan. The ceviche taco was sweet and didn't have much savory flavor, and the tuna taco didn't have much flavor. These could be okay dipped in soy sauce, but I think the other dishes we had were better. Overall, I loved the yellowtail jalapeno and the roll I can't remember the name of. The items are not cheap -- $8 for a miso soup? what's in it? -- but they clearly put a lot of care into sourcing their ingredients and are passionate about fish and sushi. Everything was fresh, yummy, and inventive. And it was more filling than I expected! I would love to come back and try more rolls and raw appetizers in the future.

Okay. White, New Englander named Alex opens a sushi restaurant in a random suburb of Boston. Recipe for mediocrity. But SushiCo is far from it. The sushi here is very fresh (Alex told me he got an order of snow crab that he sent back to the distributor because it didn't meet his quality standards). I love that he is creative. Doesn't cross the line to "fusion" per se, but definitely a good blend of Japanese (authentic to freshness, taste, presentation vs. what I've experienced in Japan) and American (thiccccc slices of fish). My tummy thanks you for opening in such a convenient location, while my bank account curses you Alex. What a neighborhood gem. A+ for service, quality, taste.

Good sushi, not just for Boston (an annoying but sometimes necessary qualifier). When it comes to sushi, I can be a bit of a purist, not a fan of garnishes and toppings, which to me feels like too much bells and whistles when you should let the quality of the fish shine on its own. The sushi here does have a lot going on, but there's attention paid to detail and making sure the flavors and textures work together, everything comes together really well. We came on the early side so were able to snag a table without a reservation, but recommend making one for Friday/weekend. Beautiful space - I couldn't stop staring at the giant mural of a fish. For starters, highly recommend the sesame noodles. They use a thin soba and not too much dressing, which I appreciate. Light, flavorful, a nice palette opener for all the fish you'll consume. Octopus salad was good (just wish there were more of it), with beautiful knife work in the cucumber on the side. Super impressive when chefs take such pride in the presentation. For my main, I got the 6-piece sashimi and the spicy tiger roll, but what I should have done was order more from the nigiri menu to try more pieces. We went with the special black cod and it was torched to perfection. Staff, including owner Alex, were all super nice! Lots of regulars, always a good sign. On a side note: love the staff t-shirts (do they sell those? There were neat stacks by our table), especially the one that had "More sushi, less drama," or something to that effect, on the back. Convenient location in Newton Centre, big metered parking lot close by (parking is free after 6).
